Disease Investigator

Are you looking for a way to help crush the curve in Nebraska?DHHS is seeking candidates to fight COVID as a Disease Investigator through our Public Health Division. The Disease Investigator will be responsible for contacting Nebraskans confirmed with COVID-19 infection to provide education regarding the recommendation to self-isolate, assess their ability to safely comply with the recommended control measures, and to elicit information on close contacts who need to be notified of their exposure.

Presidential Management Fellows Program

Since 1977 the PMF Program has matched outstanding graduate students with exciting Federal opportunities.

This rigorous, two-year paid fellowship includes challenging assignments, developmental assignments, and networking opportunities. Finalists appointed as PMFs are hired by Federal Agencies to engage in solving domestic and/or international issues in a variety of fields, such as public policy, foreign policy, business administration, engineering, science, technology, public health, cybersecurity, and more.

The PMF Program seeks eligible graduate students every year who want to make a difference through public service.

If you are interested in federal employment, you should consider this program (many fellows go on to secure a permanent position). Recent years have seen a number of public health related positions, and we expect to see even more this year.

Three Rivers Public Health Department

Three Rivers Public Health Department in Fremont, NE is seeking to fill several positions. Two are full time positions: Public Health Disease Investigator and Public Health Data Analyst.

The Public Health Disease Investigator will assist the Disease Surveillance Coordinator in program development, routine surveillance, and other grant activities. The position provides additional capacity during outbreak investigations, special projects, and special studies. The purpose of the work is to assist the Disease Surveillance Coordinator in routine and outbreak investigations as well as assure the coordination and timely completion of grant activities. The Public Health Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and implementing the data systems needed to support regional decision-making and problem-solving, this position requires someone with the ability to analyze and present the data by making it understandable to health department staff, public officials and the general communities served.
