UNMC Student Worker, Special Collections and Archives

PART-TIME TEMPORARY STUDENT WORKER

Must be currently attending classes or currently enrolled as a student with the University of Nebraska (UNK/UNL/UNMC/UNO)

Working directly with faculty and staff, students will learn the skills necessary to complete individual projects related to historical objects, art, archives, digital, and rare book collections. Students are exposed to library and museum practices and standards that will prepare them for future opportunities within the industry. 
Position DetailsThis position will support the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) McGoogan Health Sciences Library in the special collections and archives in a variety of ways that include:Performing basic research on subjects of upcoming oral histories for use in interview questions. Exhibit research and text drafting for Wigton Heritage Center exhibits.Data entry of collection catalog records into the Past Perfect database.Inventory/Re-house/Digitize/Photograph images, artwork, documents, rare books, and/or historic object collections.Assist with cleaning and maintaining collection storage spaces and exhibition casework.Assisting researchers in the reading room or rare books rooms during public hours.Assisting with library and Wigton Heritage Center programs and/or events, including lectures and tours.Participate in department and staff meetings and complete all mandatory training and safety programs as required by the library and UNMC.

CEPH is currently hiring an Accreditation Coordinator, which is a great opportunity for December MPH grads and recent MPH alumni. The position is eligible for full-time telework (with site visit travel as part of the job).

Position requires the following:

  • MPH from a CEPH-accredited school or program OR
  • Master’s in Education with an emphasis in higher education
  • Candidates who also hold a baccalaureate degree in a writing-intensive major, such as English or journalism, are particularly encouraged to apply

AHEC Program Coordinator

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of the Nebraska Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program, the AHEC Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and assessment of programs for the Nebraska AHEC Program, including the NE AHEC Scholars Program, undergraduate pre-health workshops, and other community outreach and education projects. This includes supporting the AHEC Centers to plan, promote, implement all components required of the Nebraska AHEC Scholars Program, and the overarching HRSA objectives. Additionally, this position assists in developing and maintaining the evaluative requirements of each program as assigned by the Deputy Director. The AHEC Program Coordinator is expected to use effective communication to ensure the success of the Nebraska AHEC Scholars Program and other AHEC training/meeting opportunities. The position is crucial to support the achievement of the statewide Nebraska Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program’s mission and ensure its continued success. 
This position works closely with other AHEC, UNMC, and external contacts to support the complex programmatic and administrative activities of the program.
