Epidemiology Contact Tracing Coordinator

Location of position: Lincoln – Nebraska State Office Building

Work schedule: M-F, 8-5 and as needed

Examples of Work

Design, develop, implement, integrate, and administer statewide epidemiological surveillance systems for COVID, and other diseases as needed. -Design, develop, implement, and conduct epidemiological studies and analyses of data related to COVID and comorbidities. -Determine objectives, methods, and protocols for epidemiological analyses, including aspects such as identification and linkage of multiple databases, data quality, case definitions, inclusion criteria, statistical analysis tools, stratification identification, beta testing, and development of data collection process. -Coordinate with healthcare providers, local public health departments, medical centers, clinics, health information exchange entity, state and federal agencies in the surveillance system integration and utilization. -Conduct analytical studies to determine the effectiveness of surveillance systems to respond to outbreaks, prepare strategic plans to address system gaps, educate health care providers/medical centers/laboratories and others on system utilization, and coordinate with data owners on data system improvement. -Interpret, evaluate, and analyze surveillance data to prepare and disseminate epidemiological reports, identify and analyze incidents, prevalence, trends and causes of injuries and diseases, and develop and/or recommend/implement intervention measures to control or prevent the spread of new or emerging diseases. Apply social media to produce reports based on surveillance findings to address stakeholders and the public needsQualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics or other health care related field. Additional training and experience in the application of epidemiological principles and practices is required, including surveillance, investigative techniques, implementation and control measures and evaluation measures, and system design and implementation. PREFER: PhD degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, and Public Administration or related field. Program management experience including responsibility for planning, implementing, budgeting, monitoring and evaluating a program or service. Experience in preparing project/grant proposals and technical reports; Demonstrated Supervisory experience guiding and directing teams.

OTHER: Valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to manage, analyze, and interpret large, complicated datasets. Experience using SAS or SPSS. Knowledge of procedures pertinent to data management, analysis, and interpretation. Excellent communication skills. Management of surveillance team and data systems.
