Data Analytics Internship

Ocuvera is a medical technology company in Lincoln, Nebraska. We place three-dimensional sensors equipped with machine-learned algorithms into hospital rooms to automatically monitor patients for increased risk of falling. Falls in hospitals can have serious consequences for the patients, nurses, and the hospital. We are looking for someone to help demonstrate Ocuvera’s effectiveness to our customers through data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with data analytics mentor on all tasks.
  • Work with sales and other departments to prioritize analytics needs.
  • Data collection and maintenance: help get our customers’ data into a useable format.
  • Database implementation: where needed, augment or create new reporting tools to better analyze customer data.
  • Data mining: dig into complex data to look for patterns.
  • Data interpretation: draw conclusions from each customer’s data and summarize analysis for internal and external consumption.
  • Report generation: help create easy-to-interpret, high-impact reports using each customer’s own data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Ocuvera system. Current database and reporting tools include: PowerBI, SQL, Excel, Canva.
  • Innovation: locate and define areas for workflow improvement.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor, Master, or PhD or equivalent qualification in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field
  • Possess in-depth understanding of analytical tools and ways of presenting data
  • Technical expertise regarding data models and database design and development in SQL
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, C#, or R
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tell a complete narrative using data

***This internship has the potential to turn into a full-time offer. The successful candidate should be open to staying in Nebraska at the end of the internship.

Workforce Development and Leadership Program Manager

Training the current public health workforce is a core element of the UNMC College of Public Health Office of Public Health Practice. Opportunities are planned and offered in several modalities (virtual, asynchronous, and in person) for diverse partners (governmental public health departments, non-profits, FQHCs, hospital systems and others). The desired candidate will have skills in facilitation, leadership, management, organizational development, and community engagement. The manager of workforce development programs and leadership training will lead all the workforce development initiatives for the Office of Public Health Practice. This includes the facilitation and coordination of opportunities, recruitment, advertisement, data reporting and enrollment.

Coordinator II, School of Public and Population Health

UTMB Health Galveston is seeking a Coordinator for their School of Public and Population health.

Serves as the primary point of contact for applied practice experiences and other community-based academic experiences through the School of Public and Population Health. To manage activities for a project or program.

Disease Intervention Specialist

Under the supervision of the bureau chief, maintains a regional field office for the delivery of disease prevention and public health services in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Serves as a liaison between IDPH and local public health for communicable diseases, including HIV, STDs, viral hepatitis, TB, and other vaccine-preventable diseases. Delivers STD and HIV partner services, including counseling, interviewing, and educating persons infected with communicable diseases. Solicits partner and contact information, provides referrals for support services, and acts as an advocate by ensuring linkage to case management, medical, and other support services. Performs partner/contact investigations, including location of partners, risk reduction counseling, HIV testing, and linkage to other follow-up testing and treatment. Conducts re-interviews for HIV-positive persons identified as out of care and/or never in care and works to connect them with appropriate medical services. 

Research Assistant

Description:Baby’s First Years seeks two research assistants for the first randomized control trial of poverty reduction in early childhood in the US. These positions are primarily data collection positions, and will include scheduling and collecting data from families of 4-year-olds, including standardized assessments of children’s cognitive development, measures of child brain activity (EEG/ERP), maternal and children’s hair cortisol, epigenetics, maternal executive functioning, and survey administration. Individuals who are members of the local communities will be strongly considered.
