Wellness Promotion and Prevention Coordinator, Student Health and Counseling, UNK

Job Description or Duties

The Wellness Promotion and Prevention Coordinator will provide leadership in all aspects of health promotion, education, and prevention activities related to student health and well-being at UNK. The position works towards a shared agenda of broad-based cultural and systemic change through strong systemic connections with campus and community partners. Plans and implements campus programs and department curriculum.  Sets health goals/priorities for campus education based on American College Health Association/National College Health Assessment data and consistent with initiatives of the offices within Student Health and Counseling. Conduct data analysis utilizing SPSS, IRB, survey development, data trends, etc. Recruits, selects, and trains peer health educators and volunteers as well as provides oversight and direction to peer health educators. Teaches students the fundamentals of communication and presentation skills. Grant management: responsible for executing programming consistent with grant funding as well as keeping track of expenses. Coordinate and Chair UNK Substance Use Task Force Coalition, which includes scheduling meeting times with on and off campus stake holders; providing training opportunities to task force members; and, working with members to provide them with resources and grant funds to enhance their alcohol free programs. Plans and implements campus programs and events that promote healthy, safe, and responsible living. Maintain positive working relationships with a variety of regional, statewide and local coalitions to communicate UNK efforts and develop potential collaboration opportunities. Community-Based Research Assistant (Part-Time Temporary; Located in Scottsbluff, NE)

PART-TIME TEMPORARY; LOCATED IN SCOTTSBLUFF, NE

A team of UNK/UNMC researchers are in search of a community-based research assistant to work 5-10 hours per week, for up to 1 year.

Will support research activities, including direct observation and other data collection activities for the Building Healthy Families Pediatric Weight Management program in communities in the Scottsbluff/Gering and surrounding area.

The position requires the ability to effectively work as part of a large interdisciplinary team, evening hours, reliable transportation, some in-state travel, and ability to complete the required training.

Evaluation Project Management Associate

MERC at UNL is seeking to fill two full-time (temporary, but possibility to become permanent) data support positions. They are hoping to hire at least one qualitative focused person. Training is included in the job. Work is currently remote and fairly flexible, but will be back on the UNL campus at some point. Immediate work will be related to evaluating a statewide substance use prevention project.

Under general supervision, assesses community-wide and group health needs and community health education programs, writes community health education programs and coordinates the dissemination of community health education and health promotion activities; performs related work as assigned.
