Regional Epidemiologist

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is looking for 5 regional epidemiologists to serve as an epidemiological resource for local health departments in one of six regions in Kansas. The ideal candidates should have epidemiology or communicable disease experience. These regional epidemiologists must possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to develop strong collaborations with community partners. These epidemiologists will initiate, plan, and direct epidemiological studies, surveillance projects, and outbreak investigations. These positions will also prepare oral and written presentations describing the outcomes of epidemiologic investigations or surveillance findings and develop, analyze, and present information on health disparities and other community health issues. These epidemiologists will function as the coordinators and liaisons for disease surveillance, investigation, and control activities for infectious disease activities in their assigned region. These positions will be remote positions with frequent travel to assigned region.

Viral Hepatitis Surveillance Coordinator

The Iowa Department of Public Health is seeking a Viral Hepatitis Surveillance Coordinator.

Job Description

Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet all selective requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list.

Under the direction of the bureau chief and functional oversight of the Data Program Manager, coordinates and serves as the lead epidemiologist for the Viral Hepatitis Surveillance Program, including providing functional oversight for surveillance activities for hepatitis B and C. 

Behavioral Health Epidemiologist

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) through the Division of Behavioral Health is seeking a prevention and epidemiological surveillance system expert to provide leadership and data oversight to data team members and system partners. This position is permanent full-time and is located at 301 Centennial Mall South 3rd floor in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Qualifications / Requirements

Minimum Requirements: • Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics or other health care related field. Preferred Qualifications: • Additional training and experience in the application of epidemiological principles and practices is required, including surveillance, investigative techniques, implementation and control measures and evaluation measures, and system design and implementation. • At least two years’ experience in research and evaluation involving the application of statistical methods and techniques to program, administrative, survey, or demographic data; additional experience in this work can be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
