Graduate Research Assistant

Description: Graduate Research assistant, 20 hours per week, up to 2 years. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of research activities including data entry, literature search, manuscript formatting, participant recruitment and retention, and data collection. The position requires the ability to effectively work as part of a large interdisciplinary team, some in-state travel, ability to effectively communicate and recruit participants via the telephone, flexible working hours, and strong computer and analytical skills. Currently we have projects in the following areas: pediatric obesity, social network analysis, obesity disparities and diabetes prevention.

 

Preferred skills:  Candidates should have research or practice experience in health, health promotion, or health education or any other related field. Experience conducting data entry and literature searches as well as working with deadlines and following protocols without direct supervision, experience working with telephone-based recruitment/retention, and experience working directly with people in a healthcare or healthcare-related environments (clients, research participants, patients). Additional skills that would be advantageous for the position include conducting health assessments (blood pressure measurements, height and weight, health history questionnaires), demonstrated good time management skills, willingness to learn new techniques and procedures, strong writing and analytical skills, and a strong work ethic.
