Prevention Specialist in Tobacco

The Prevention Services Department at Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare currently has a position available for a Prevention Specialist who will assist in the coordination of the Region 6 prevention system.  The Prevention Specialist is responsible for administration of grant funds, technical assistance, and training services for community prevention coalitions in the Region 6 service area, with a focus in Douglas County, Nebraska.  This position shall maintain accurate records of services, related progress measures, and other relevant information regarding tobacco prevention and control strategies being implemented in the community.  The Prevention Specialist will work directly with other community organizations partnering in tobacco prevention initiatives.

A successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in health education, human services, or community organization, and experience with community coalitions and/or engagement.  Knowledge of current prevention strategies and theory highly encouraged.  The candidate must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance are required.  The successful applicant must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen and provide employment references.
