The Senior Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Specialist will perform a range of analytical, writing, problem-solving and related work in support of the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center’s (NHTTAC’s) delivery of training, technical assistance, education and outreach services to the field on behalf of the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP). Support to NHTTAC includes managing a portfolio of OTIP grantees to support their TTA needs, responding to field requests for technical assistance, working with the team to develop training guides, toolkits, bulletins, and other materials and supporting logistical and content related tasks for public events and trainings. The ideal candidate should also possess a solid understanding of project management skills as the position entails overseeing projects with lots of moving parts. A minimal level of travel is required.
OTIP is committed to exploring partnerships to better leverage the public health framework to strengthen data collection, better target public awareness and prevention campaigns, expand training to address the root causes of human trafficking, and empower survivors of trafficking. In support, NHTTAC administers a host of training and technical assistance strategies and interventions to support OTIP grantees, social service providers, medical and behavioral health specialists and public health actors to enhance their capacity to proactively respond to human trafficking in their communities.
- Overseeing the TTA needs of OTIP grantees aimed at improving their support to survivors and programs. This includes assessing grantee’s needs, analyzing data and developing TTA plans, identifying consultants, and developing regional grantee meetings and convenings, webinars to Administration of Children and Families (ACF) grantees, and national public webinars; some facilitation is required
- Responding to training and technical assistance requests to better respond to the needs of survivors of human trafficking, or those at risk of trafficking, particularly in the public health arena including public health officials, health care practitioners, behavioral health or substance use professionals
- Supporting the field-requested TTA application process from beginning to completion, including; conducting a thorough assessment of the requestor’s needs, recommending and supporting speakers or subject matter experts, tracking and reviewing budgets related to consultant activity and travel, and tracking customized TTA application progress using the NHTTAC management information system to ensure program objectives are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Develop and delivery of national public webinars on emerging issues in the human trafficking field
- Effectively interacting and providing responsive information to representatives from the U.S. Health and Human Services and other Federal bureaus and offices, state government offices, as well as members of the allied professions, victim service and advocacy organizations, statewide coalitions and also survivors of crime
- Providing logistical and content support for trainings, conferences, trainings, focus groups and other meetings
- Supporting the NHTTAC program manager with data analysis and report writing
- Supporting various program tasks such as registration and logistical coordination for national and regional trainings, meetings and conferences, organizing and supporting delivery of webinars, drafting web content, portions of reports and other deliverables
- Coordinate listservs and targeted email lists; engage in outreach with the victim services field; send marketing e-blasts that promote project related events, new materials and web content
- Performing other related duties as assigned
The work requires substantial collaboration with a variety of OTIP and NHTTAC points of contact, as well as with various members of the HT field. The person must plan and carry out concurrent activities that will ensure a timely and orderly provision of a set of deliverables to requesters, both within OTIP and throughout the public health and human trafficking fields. The incumbent must display decisiveness, diplomacy and sound judgment in resolving difficult problems in work assignments, which are often of a complex and sensitive nature. The incumbent must be able to multi-task, and display sensitivity to the confidential nature of OTIP’s work and of the communications between OTIP and NHTTAC.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Public Health, Public Relations, Communication or related discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- 5+ years previous work experience, preferably related to human trafficking and/or in a TTA capacity
- Demonstrated knowledge of public health and/or anti-human trafficking efforts with individuals at risk of human trafficking in the United States
- Ability to oversee large, long-term projects, create and manage timelines, and collaborate with other teams to complete a project deliverable
- Understanding of the pace and expectation of working in a client-service oriented environment and familiarity with government structure and government agencies
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel
- Strong proofreading skills with careful attention to detail
- Experience in coordination and provision of training and technical assistance
- Knowledge of the general nature of the victim services and victims’ rights field
- Experience with remote and web based learning
- Experience with meeting and conference logistics
- Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
- Prior consulting experience with other professional services firms who have a substantial track record to serving the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and/or other similar public sector agencies
- Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, demonstrated highly professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with various levels of internal staff, as well as clients, grantees, and vendors required
- Ability to work autonomously and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to create and manage timelines and collaborate with the team to complete a project deliverable
