Preventive Health and Health Services Program Manager

NE DHHS is seeking a Preventive Health and Health Services Program Manager. The PHHS program encompasses preventive health programs including comprehensive cancer control, injury prevention, oral health & dentistry and services and supports for people living with HIV and AIDS through the Ryan White program as well as the PHHS block grant that provides funding across the public health spectrum. You’ll work with numerous internal and external partners to help Nebraskans live healthier lives. Your skills working with people, discerning health priorities, financial management, grant and report writing and being flexible, mixed with a healthy sense of humor, will make you a good match for this position. 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, education, health sciences, public health, law or related field and one year experience in program planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, marketing a program or service and supervising/managing staff. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Master’s in Public Health, Public Health Administration, or related field. 3-5 years supervisory experience, excellent leadership skills, and attention to work culture and environment. Experience working with multiple grant awards and state and federal law, and 3 plus year of Excel experience

OTHER: Valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of program administration including planning, organizing and budgeting; principles of grant writing and grant administration; techniques of research, planning and evaluation; practices and techniques of management. Knowledge, integration and championing of the DHHS Core Values and Competencies a plus! Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and standards; agency rules, policies and procedures and technical narrative material; communicate effectively; interact with program representatives and the public; monitor and evaluate performance and formulate short- and long-range plans. Ability to work collaboratively and to foster a culture of respect, integrity and accountability.
