It has come to our attention that at least one of the DRC elevators has malfunctioned in recent weeks and more than one student has gotten trapped. The phone and alarm buttons did not work when this occurred and there was no cellphone reception. Security, facilities, and IT have all been notified of this issue, and the phone and alarm buttons have been repaired. They malfunctioned due to a faulty wire.
If you have gotten stuck in a DRC elevator or had any similar issues, please contact Julie Sommer (julie.sommer@unmc.edu) if you have not done so already. She is advocating for more frequent safety checks of the elevators and would like to hear from you if you have experienced any trouble with them.
