Jan tried to hold on to Elephanto for another week, but Stephane VanderMeulen, in the Physician Assistant program, beat her by two minutes! They both correctly identified the Sorrell building. (Back when it was a whole lot warmer outside.) Congratulations, Stephane.

Cytotechnology Students to Present at Iowa Society of Cytology Webinar

The Cytotechnology students will be presenting an Unknown Case at the upcoming Iowa Society of Cytology Webinar on October 29, 2009. The webinar is attended by Cytotechnologists and Cytopathologists across the U.S. for continuing education credit. The student presentation will be one of four presentations given that date. Their unknown case presentation is regarding the difficulty of diagnosing atrophic patterns in cervical cytology. The students had to choose an interesting case, take photos of the cells from the cervical slides, identify differential diagnoses from other cervical cytology slides, compare them with their case, and present their findings.

Perfusion Students to Present Research at National Perfusion Meeting

Galyna Mishchenko and Ben Swanson were chosen to present their research at the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology’s Pediatric Perfusion Conference, October 30, 2009 in Dallas, Texas.  Ms. Mishchenko will present “Hydrodynamic Simulation Model of the Circulatory System Allowing for Mimicking of Partial, Total and Left Heart Bypass for Perfusion Education.”  Mr. Swanson is presenting “Establishing Time and Flow Rate for Improving the Efficacy of CO2 Flushing in Debubble Management of Arterial Line Filters.”
