Corri Hanson wins award for manuscript

Corrine Hanson, PhD, RD, LMNT, assistant professor in Medical Nutrition Education, has been selected as a winner of the 2011 Huddleson Award for her manuscript, “Vitamin D Status and Associations in Newborn Formula-Fed Infants during Initial Hospitalization,” published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association (now the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) during 2011.

This prestigious award honors a registered dietitian who was the lead author of a peer-reviewed article that made an important contribution to the dietetics profession and was published in the Journal during the previous calendar year. In this unique case, from a very competitive field, they had a tie and thus are honoring both Dr. Hanson and another author, Dr. Cyndi Thomson.

The award, bestowed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation, is named for Mary Pascoe Huddleson, Editor of the Journal from 1927 to 1946. The award carries a modest honorarium, and the winners are invited to attend the Foundation dinner at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE), this year to be held in Philadelphia, PA in October 2012.

Dr. Hanson’s achievement will also be formally recognized in the October 2012 issue of the Journal. Congratulations on this truly outstanding accomplishment and well-deserved recognition from your peers!
