Who in the library….faculty & staff profiles

Erin Torell
Archives Associate II Special Collections

Tell us about your job in the library.

I work in the Special Collections Department.  I help organize and describe physical collections of books, photographs, and documents from university departments, retired faculty or alumni, and Nebraska medical professionals.  I digitize historic and unique items in our collections and upload them to Digital Commons.  I also help create exhibits and presentations about the history of medicine and UNMC.

When would you most likely meet or talk with me?

You would most likely meet or talk with me on the 8th floor in the Special Collections area.

What do you like about working in the library?

I like working closely with old and/or rare documents, books, and artifacts.  Our rare book collection is extensive.  It can be overwhelming imagining the number of people who have used these books before they came to the McGoogan Library.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy reading, paper crafts like card making or art journaling, and watching sports, especially the Kansas City Royals and TV shows like Dr. Who.
