On January 26, the Department of Psychiatry handed out its Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) Partnership Award.
The PES Outstanding Partnership Award recognizes one psychiatry faculty member and one clinical staff member who goes above and beyond in their collaboration with the UNMC/NM Department of Emergency Medicine.
This year’s recipient are Kristen Baus, MD, and Alexis Hofker, LIMHP.
Dr. Baus is an adult psychiatrist. Amy Mead, MBA, BSN, said Dr. Baus is an excelled partner and collaborator.
“Working in the evenings and overnights she often is helping to problem solve complex issues and is always willing to come to the ED to assist in meeting patient needs. Dr. Baus consistently has an attitude of ‘how can we make this happen?’” said Mead, Director Emergency, Psychiatric Emergency and Observation Services with Nebraska Medicine.
Hofker is a long-time employee in the Psychiatric Emergency Services unit. Mead calls her an excellent patient advocate.
“Alexis works diligently with the nursing staff to meet the needs of the patient. She meets each challenge with a positive attitude and fosters collaborative relationships with the ED nursing and provider staff,” Mead said.
