What is Glossophobia?

Who knows what glossophobia is? Glossophobia is the fear of public speaking or speech anxiety. If you get nervous at the thought of speaking in front of people, know that you are not alone. This fear is something that is shared by up to 75% of people. Rest easy though, Sasha Shillcutt, MD, MS, FASE ’03, ’07, ’16 has some tips to share with you about how to ease that fear and to be successful when presenting in public.

 1.  Self Affirmation

2.  Put yourself in the audience’s shoes

3.  Be honest and vulnerable

Check the video out to learn more and remember the old adage, “practice makes perfect”. So put yourself in a situation of vulnerability and work to overcome that fear of speaking in public. And just know that you are more amazing than you (may) think you are!
