Perfusion students, Swan and Glock, present research in CA

Two students in our clinical perfusion education program gave oral and poster presentations on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the 37th Annual Cardiothoracic Research and Education Forum (CREF) at San Diego’s Westin Gaslamp in San Diego, CA.

Halle Swan presented on the technical development of a new type of suction apparatus improving safety in open-heart surgery. The paper was, “Improving Hemolysis Levels Associated with Cardiotomy Suction,” by Halle Swann, Jared Arensdorf, and David Holt.

Jordanna Glock presented on the evaluation of plasticizer leakage in ECMO circuits leading to an improvement in safety in open-heart surgery. The paper was, “Assessing DEHP and MEHP Leakage in Wet-Primed ECMO Circuits,” by Jordanna Glock, Justin Schiess, and David W. Holt.
