Buck Institute Invites Applications for Research on Female Reproductive Aging

Deadline:  February 3, 2020

A pioneer in research and aging, the mission of the Buck Institute is to end the threat of age-related disease for this and future generations.

To advance this mission, and in collaboration with the Bia-Echo Foundation, the institute welcomes applications for its grants in support of projects focused broadly on understanding female reproductive aging. The institute will be awarding grants in the following categories:

Senior Faculty Awards — Grants of $400,000 per year for two years will be awarded in support of established investigators who are thought leaders in their fields and are recognized for substantial contributions of creative and productive research. The Buck seeks to complement other major funders of research by placing emphasis on projects that may not be supported by traditional sources because of their perceived novelty or high risk, or because the investigator is moving into female reproductive aging from a different research area.

Junior Faculty Awards — Grants of $250,000 per year for two years will be awarded in support of newly independent investigators with outstanding promise who are establishing their own labs and are flexible in terms of the direction of their research.

Pilot Awards — Grants of $100,000 per year for two years will be awarded to foster innovative collaborative or novel research projects that have the potential to realize high impact and reward at an accelerated rate. These awards are also intended to allow for the collection of preliminary data to be used in applying for larger grants.

Postdoctoral Fellowships — Grants of $100,000 per year over two years will be awarded to increase the number of imaginative well-trained junior scientists who can form the next generation of reproductive aging researchers.

Eligible applicants include researchers based at accredited academic and nonprofit research institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

See the Buck Institute website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
