Having good student integrity during research means paying attention to and continually developing your scientific methodology. No matter what scientific area you go into, it will ultimately come back to this—how you do your statistics, how you’re designing your experiments, what outcomes you are observing. This knowledge will remain important throughout any changes in your area of research. Pursuing your own research passions are good, but I would also encourage awareness of orbiting interests in which to maintain engagement. This allows you to diversify yourself from your colleagues by developing skills and awareness in less familiar areas. Moving forward in any academic environment will require you to develop your own thoughts and ideas and this practice will be helpful.
