UNMC PAs represent at national PAEA meeting and forum

Stephane VanderMeulen, MPAS, PA-C, Assistant Professor, Division of Physician Assistant Education, managed the gavel as President over the annual business meeting at the national Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Education Forum in Washington, DC, this past week. Under her leadership, the PAEA has had an extraordinarily effective year in building collaborative relationships with the American Association of Medical Colleges and overseeing significant growth of the organization that now represents 200 PA programs across the country.

At the PAEA Education Forum, UNMC was well-represented by a number of presentations conducted by PA faculty. Darwin Brown, MPH, PA-C, Associate Director and Assistant Professor in the Division of PA Education, helped lead a full-day workshop on Clinical Coordinator Skills, and was invited to present a session with fellow faculty member, Ryan Wessel, MPA, on “Using Patient Logging for Student and Program Self-Assessment.”

Cody Sasek, MPAS, PA-C, Assistant Professor in the Division of PA Education, was invited to lead two presentations, including “Navigating the ADA: Roles and Responsibilities of the PA Educator,” and “Take the Plunge: Get Started with Scholarly Activity Today,” which he co-presented with former UNMC faculty, Tamara Ritsema, MPH, MMSc, PA-C, who now serves as PA faculty with St Georges, University of London and George Washington University.
