“Legacies of Healing: The Karrer Family,” the new McGoogan Health Sciences Library exhibit, opens August 8th, 2025. The exhibit, found on Level 8, McGoogan Library, Wittson Hall, explores the Karrer family’s history, legacy and impact on healthcare in Nebraska. With deep roots in the small towns of central and western Nebraska, the Karrer family established a legacy of healing that eventually extended beyond the state borders. Over four generations of Karrer family members have returned to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, producing a total of eight graduates. The Karrer family’s dedication exemplifies the College’s impact on medical education and reflects the family’s commitment to caring for patients in Nebraska and beyond.

Learn about the impact of the Karrer family at the exhibit on Level 8, McGoogan Library, Wittson Hall and online. The in-person exhibit runs through January 22, 2026.
