DPT students present at Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum

Meagan Reiners, DPT3 student, and Jie Hao, MS/DPT1 student, recently presented research at the Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum on Feb 22. The forum, sponsored by UNMC and Creighton University, provides an opportunity for students in graduate or health professions programs to present their work in an oral or poster format while receiving feedback from peers and faculty judges. Nearly 150 students from Universities across the Midwest attended this year.

Meagan presented a poster titled: Nursing and rehabilitation therapy perceptions of training on safe patient mobilization. She worked on this project with CAHP faculty members Dawn Venema, PT, PhD, Anne Skinner, MS, RHIA, and Vicki Kennel, PhD. This project was funded by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program and the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions Student Research and Education Innovation Grant.

Jie gave an oral presentation titled: Could visual perturbation alter muscle activation while walking on inclined treadmill? He worked on this project with PT faculty members Joseph Siu, PhD, and Jung-hung Chien, PhD. This project was supported by the NASA Nebraska Space Grant.
