Wayne Mathews, associate professor and associate director in the UNMC Division of Physician Assistant Education recently gave a presentation to Nebraska One Health. The group is an interprofessional assembly of several Nebraska organizations and research institutions all promoting the health of Nebraskans.
In his talk, “A One Health Approach to Antimicrobial Resistance: A Review and Preliminary Report,” Wayne addressed the connection between using antibiotics for non-medical uses in animal production and the emergence of human bacterial pathogen rough resistance.
