Holly Zimmerman, MS, CGC, recently joined the College of Allied Health Professions as an Assistant Professor and inaugural director of the Genetic Counseling program planned to accept its first class in fall of 2019. Holly earned her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of South Carolina in 2007. Originally from Mississippi, she has spent the last ten years at the University of Mississippi Medical Center initially serving as the state’s only genetic counselor. She established genetic counseling services gaining experience in general, prenatal, pediatric, and cancer genetics. In addition to her clinical roles, she was an Instructor within the Department of Pediatrics and actively involved in the education of medical students, pediatric residents, and maternal fetal medicine fellows.
“I have already started planning and look forward to meeting our first class!” said Holly. “I am amazed by the community’s support of this program and look forward to working with the College of Allied Health Professions and the Munroe-Meyer Institute.”
Holly also adds that she and her family cannot wait for snow!
