Celebrating National Physical Therapy Month

Every October, physical therapists celebrate National Physical Therapy Month by raising awareness about our profession. To do our part in the promotion, UNMC PT students will be traveling to Lincoln to speak with UNL’s Pre-Physical Therapy Club. Our goal is to educate these students on the premier doctorate program UNMC has to offer and field questions about the profession or the demands of school. Here is a look at a few significant details relevant to these students’ interest in PT:

  • According to a recent article by CNNMoney.com, PT is ranked as the 7th best job in America, based on job growth and security, salary, and job satisfaction.
  • PT’s work as part of a multi disciplinary team that includes occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, nursing and other health care providers to provide optimal patient care.
  • PT is a rapidly growing field – expected growth from 2006-2016 is 27%.
  • This is a challenging and creative career that allows the therapist to design and implement their own treatment programs.

If you are interested in more information about the benefits of physical therapy or general information about the profession, please visit the American Physical Therapy Association website at www.apta.org.

  1. I’ve been practicing as a P.T. in a multidisciplinary clinic for a few years now and I love it! I highly recommend physical therapy as a career to anyone interested in health care.
