On Monday, May 6, 2024, faculty from Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Laboratory Science, and Occupational Therapy Programs joined the Physical Therapy faculty and staff for the Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS®) course. PT Assistant Professor Nikki Sleddens, PT, PhD, and Department of Allied Health Professions Education, Research, and Practice Assistant Professor Vicki Kennel, PhD, presented this course.

TeamSTEPPS® is a teamwork system approach for healthcare professionals that offers powerful solutions to improving collaboration and communication within healthcare institutions. More specifically, it enables them to respond quickly and effectively to whatever situations arise.

The TeamSTEPPS® course is taught to PT students during their course of study, having been integrated into the physical therapy curriculum.
