In August, Kate West, DMSc, PA-C, represented UNMC and the College at the Interservice Physician Assistant Program’s (IPAP) Completion Ceremony. There, at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, 53 service members received their Bachelor of Science degree from UNMC. IPAP is the largest PA program in the country, and graduates three classes per year.
The graduates completed phase 1 of their physician assistant education at Fort Sam Houston and will now be stationed at military installations throughout the US and overseas to complete the clinical phase of training. Upon completion, UNMC will award them a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree.
UNMC has partnered with the military to award degrees to military PAs since the 1970s, and our contract with IPAP was just renewed for an additional five years. The College has great respect and appreciation for the military service of IPAP students and faculty, and looks forward to continued partnership and collaboration.
