Mary Matthiessen is the 2022 recipient of the College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP) Distinguished Administrative Professional award. This award recognizes a CAHP employee who exemplifies the ITEACH Values and who improves the college and/or its programs.
Using the lens of Innovation, Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Courage, and Healing (ITEACH), Mary’s nominators called out her vital role in leading the CAHP N95 Fit Testing clinics.
One nominator said, “Mary quickly volunteered her time and expertise in this area and did so with a creative mindset for efficiency and attention to detail. Her innovative approaches to challenging circumstances supported the students by minimizing any clinical interruptions by equipping the students with the respirators needed for quality patient care.”
What others said: A true catalyst for effective team collaboration, Mary is the first to volunteer to help others or for a new project. She is a solution-oriented person and improves processes for both students and faculty. Mary offers a “gentle push” when needed and creates a supportive culture.
Mary embodies what ITEACH is about. Her work truly shows what CAHP teams can achieve. She is a positive force who is always three steps ahead for what is needed.
Other staff nominated for the award included Megan Krenzer, Kara Smith, and Nicki Simmons. Each was recognized at our weekly Townhall meeting for their contributions to the College.
Eligibility for the Distinguished Administrative Professional Award – All CAHP office service or managerial/professional employees who have been with the college for 12 months or more (from award submission deadline) are eligible. Past recipients of this award are re-eligible five years following the receipt of the award.
