Erin Koziel recently joined our Medical Laboratory Science faculty as adjunct instructor and clinical coordinator. Here’s more about Erin in her own words:
I am originally from Council Bluffs, IA, but moved to Omaha in 2005. Throughout my life, I’ve always known I wanted to be in the healthcare field, perhaps as some kind of doctor. While earning my undergraduate degree, I fell in love with working in a laboratory, but didn’t know how to merge healthcare and laboratory work. After college, I started working in a pathology lab at a local hospital where I discovered my answer, medical laboratory science!
I find it very rewarding to be such an integral part of patient care, working behind the scenes to deliver patient results so that frontline providers can modify and tailor therapies based on the patient’s current condition. I’m very excited to be joining the CAHP team and getting the opportunity to shape the next generation of scientists.
I have three children all under nine years old, which keeps me very busy. When I do manage to find some downtime, I enjoy reading, visiting with family and friends, and going to the zoo.
