Welcome new faculty: C.J. Woslager

C.J. Woslager, DC, MS, MLS (ASCP)CMSMCM, is an alum and new assistant professor in our medical laboratory science program. Here’s more about C.J. in his own words:

“I am originally from Pierce, NE and moved to Omaha 7 years ago. My path to the Medical Laboratory Sciences was circuitous. Following my undergraduate degree in Biology from Midland University, I went to chiropractic school. Following my doctorate degree, I practiced briefly in Pennsylvania before going back to school for a MS degree in Clinical Research. Following my master’s degree, I spent a few years doing scientific editing and worker’s compensation reviews. I then decided to switch my career direction to the medical laboratory sciences and have enjoyed it ever since.

Following my graduation from UNMC’s laboratory science program, I worked at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center as a generalist initially, then moved to microbiology. In addition to my laboratory responsibilities, I became involved in training and educating new hires, and pursued opportunities to educate college and high school students. Naturally, my career was gravitating towards education and an interest in research, which prompted my desire to become a faculty member at UNMC.

I am honored and excited to be a part of UNMC’s Medical Laboratory Science program, and to give back to the profession by preparing the best. Great things are happening at UNMC and the laboratory professionals have been at the center of it. I am excited to prepare these students with not only technical skills, but the critical-thinking and scientific skills necessary to tackle real world problems they will encounter.”
