PT faculty member, Patricia (Pat) Hageman, PhD, is cited in a December 2018 publication, PT in Motion. The article highlighted an exchange of views between the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) “Emerging Leader” awardees and members of the Association’s highest membership category called the Catherine Worthingham Fellows (FAPTA).
Hageman, a FAPTA, commented that some of the best advice she received in her career was to find “a social network of trusted colleagues” who help one “build courage and take risks by saying ‘yes’ in ways I might never have dreamed.” Other comments by Pat related to outreach to rural populations. The article highlighted that the career arc of a PT often crosses many decades, with the endpoints separated by age and experience, making it relevant that lessons learned along the way can be instructive at any point in the journey.
APTA is an individual membership professional organization representing more than 100,000 member physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students.
