CAHP Treks the Tower

What’s the tallest building between Denver and Chicago? At 633 feet, it’s the First National Tower in Omaha, which consists of 40 floors and 870 steps. It’s also the venue for the annual Trek up the Tower, a community event presented by WELLCOM that raises money to support WELLCOM’s mission of elevating worksite wellness programs.

On Saturday, February 20, 2016, our dean, Kyle Meyer, PhD made the trek, along with Geri Finn and Jill Jensen from PA. This was the second year Meyer and Finn took up the challenge.

Dr. Meyer is chair of the WELLCOM board of directors (a year term that runs January – December 2016).

“This ‘vertical race’ has become WELLCOM’s signature event,” said Dr. Meyer. “I’m grateful we had a team from the CAHP to participate.”

Jill took 6th place in her age group, and Geri, coming off a recent pregnancy, beat her sister who also ran the stairs. Jill and Geri are proud to say that they both beat Dr. Meyer.

“As the ‘elder statesman’ of the group,” said Meyer, “I was just happy to make it to the top at all!”

Kudos to the team!
