Sheila Fleer, MPAS, PA-C, is a new assistant professor in our physician assistant program. She’ll be on-campus in Omaha for about a year as full faculty, and then will return to Kearney to be the lead faculty member for the new PA Program expansion there. Here, in her own words, is a little more about Sheila:
“I am very excited to be a part of the UNMC PA Team and the progressive future that we have ahead of us for our Program. Before becoming a Physician Assistant, I had a couple of other careers. I continue to be a certified 7-12 math and chemistry teacher and was also a plant manager for a pharmaceutical device company. After graduation from the UNMC PA program, I worked at Med-Care, Inc, an interventional pain management clinic in Grand Island and Kearney, NE. I then became coordinator of the Nebraska Joint Replacement Center at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE, performing total knee and hip arthroplasties. I love being a PA, and I am happy to be back in the teaching profession!
I am originally from a small town in the Sandhills of Nebraska called Bartlett, NE. I have called Kearney, NE my home for several years now. As of this year I am an “empty nester,” sending my last child of three off to college. (Hoping to get some UNL football and volleyball tickets!) I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, especially my two grandsons, and outdoor activities such as running, playing softball and boating.”
Welcome to the UNMC School of Allied Health Professions, Sheila!
