Why did you apply to work at UNMC?

I know several people who work at UNMC, and each one raves about how wonderful a place it is to work. They have all worked here for many years, some even for decades. To me, that speaks volumes about the type of place this is.
What do you enjoy about working in the Department of Psychiatry?
What I enjoy so much about working in the Psychiatry Department is how dedicated everyone here is to mental health. I have not met anyone yet who has not gone the extra mile for a patient, a co-worker, or the department as a whole. Mental health is something that many people overlook or ignore, and working for a department committed to the well-being of others is refreshing.
What are some of your career goals?
I don’t have a specific career goal in mind; rather, my goal is to be happy wherever I am. Since so much of our time is spent at work, I think it’s essential to enjoy what you do. There is nothing worse, in my opinion, than waking up each morning dreading the day.
What are some of your hobbies?
My hobbies include spending time outdoors, enjoying time with my family, and reading. We have two horses and two dogs, so spending time riding, relaxing, or playing with them is a blast. My favorite thing to do once our son is asleep and evening chores are done is to curl up with a good book and enjoy the evening.
