Patricia Hageman, PhD, PT
Patricia Hageman, Ph.D., professor and former program director of physical therapy education in the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s School of Allied Health Professions, has been appointed to a three-year term on a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) external advisory committee.
Dr. Hageman is the only Nebraskan on the 21-member committee appointed by Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
The committee provides policy and programming advice and recommendations to Sebelius and the DHHS with the goal of creating a diverse health care workforce that promotes high-quality health care to such underserved areas as rural communities.
Dr. Hageman has dedicated her career to developing innovative solutions that meet the health care workforce needs of Nebraska. She has worked on rural health initiatives, improved the quality of geriatric health care through outreach education to practitioners, and, through her research, enhanced the health status of Nebraska’s midlife and older rural women.
Dr. Hageman’s appointment ensures that Nebraskans will have a voice on important practice and workforce issues. “I am thrilled to see Dr. Hageman’s knowledge, experience and skill recognized at the national level; she is an outstanding advocate for the health concerns of rural Nebraskans,” said Jack Turman Jr., Ph.D., program director of SAHP’s Division of Physical Therapy Education.
