Nicole Martino, PhD, OTR/L, recently joined our occupational therapy faculty. Here’s more about Dr. Martino in her own words:
I am excited to join the Division of Occupational Therapy Education at UNMC combining my experience and knowledge as a clinician and translational health scientist.
After earning a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University in 2003, I practiced in a variety of rehabilitation settings with adults and older adults. After working in the clinic for a number of years, I decided to pursue a PhD in translational health sciences from George Washington University. Combining my OT experience with newfound knowledge as a translational health researcher, I am able to recognize the complexities of health, conduct rigorous research, and facilitate innovation on multiple levels while recognizing the value of collaboration and teams. I am thrilled to bring my knowledge and experience to the new OTD program and look forward to working with students and faculty throughout the university.
Although I have lived in Colorado for over 20 years and enjoy all it has to offer, I am excited for new experiences. Hobbies include playing clarinet in various ensembles, hiking, kayaking, and cycling. I very much look forward to all UNMC and the greater Omaha area has to offer.
