L’Oreal USA for Women in Science Program

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at a critical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Since 2003, we’ve awarded 80 postdoctoral women scientists over $4 million in grants. We’re seeking five exceptional female scientists looking to advance their research and serve as role models for the next generation of girls in STEM.

Candidates are selected from a variety of fields including the life and physical/material sciences, technology (including computer science), engineering, and mathematics. Candidates must have completed their PhD and have started in their postdoctoral position by the application deadline.

Eligibility

  • In order to be eligible for the fellowship, a candidate must have a Ph.D. degree that was conferred on or before February 1, 2020.
  • Candidates holding a Ph.D., D.P.H., or Sc.D. are eligible to apply. Candidates exclusively holding any other degree, including M.D. and D.V.M., are not eligible.
  • Applicants must be American citizens (born or naturalized) or permanent residents (green card holders). Unfortunately, visa holders are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be affiliated with a U.S.-based academic or research institution. International travel for research collection purposes is acceptable, but the research must be primarily conducted or analyzed within the U.S. or a U.S. territory.
  • The research described in the applicant’s Research Proposal must be involved in the life, physical/material sciences, engineering, technology, computer science and/or mathematics fields. (please see the application for a full list of eligible areas of study and sub-fields)
  • No. Applicants who hold faculty positions are not eligible. Only candidates in full-time postdoctoral
    positions are eligible to apply.

Poggi Pediatric Orthopaedics Research Fellowship

Deadline:  January 25, 2020

The Johns Hopkins Poggi Pediatric Orthopaedic Research Scholar Award is a year-long fellowship program for extraordinary medical students. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge clinical research and learn the skills necessary to produce sound, high-quality papers. Poggi fellows are a crucial part of the pediatric orthopaedic surgery team and gain clinical experience both in and out of the operating room.

Details, Eligibility and Application

  • Program duration: one year
  • Applicants should be completing their third year of medical school (in rare circumstances, uniquely qualified students finishing their second year of medical school may be considered).
  • Applicants must be in good academic standing and have an interest in pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery.
  • The recipient of this award will receive a $30,000 stipend to cover living expenses for the year, as well as travel expenses for national presentations.
  • Eligible students can apply by filling out the application form and submitting a letter of recommendation, curriculum vitae and a PDF of the USMLE Step 1 score by email to poggifellowship@jhmi.edu

2019 Celgene Awards for Clinical Research in Hematology

The Celgene Corporation is pleased to sponsor the 2019 Celgene Awards for Clinical Research in Hematology, an institutional grant program created to recognize clinicians and fellows who have made significant contributions to the study of hematologic diseases. Specifically, the program supports hematology research and related education at the institutional level.

Clinicians and fellows can be nominated for awards in the following 3 categories:

Career Achievement ($25,000 USD) 

  • Presented to an institution in recognition of a clinician’s research that has made significant contributions to hematology throughout his or her career

Young Investigator ($15,000 USD) 

  • Presented to an institution in recognition of a clinician younger than age 45 who has made a noteworthy research contribution in clinical hematology during his or her career

Future Leaders in Hematology ($10,000 USD) 

  • Presented to 5 institutions in recognition of fellows whose research activities have contributed greatly to hematology

We are reaching out to you to help raise awareness of this program within your institution. It is our desire that those deserving individuals will be nominated for their achievements.

To complete a nomination, please visit www.hemawards.com. Nominators will be asked to submit the following information:

  • A nomination letter describing the impact of the nominee’s work on the understanding, diagnosis, and/or treatment of hematologic diseases
  • An example of 1 of the nominee’s contributions in the form of a published abstract or journal article
  • The nominee’s current CV

The application deadline is Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 11:59 PM EDT. 

Award recipients will be determined by an independent selection committee, and the winners will be recognized at a private reception that will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, in Orlando, Florida.
