Ebola and Beyond: High-Level Biocontainment for Healthcare Facilities MOOC

Education Highlight – The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) College of Public Health launched a massive open online course (MOOC), Ebola and Beyond: High-Level Biocontainment for Healthcare Facilities. Agricultural Health and Safety Course Strives to Reduce the Burden of Ag Illness and Injury

Education Highlight – From agricultural aerosols to zoonotic diseases, the COPH Agricultural Health and Safety Course (ENV 902/CPH619) presents topics that cover the extensive health and safety risks faced by agricultural workers. Opportunities for Applied Field Experience in Public Health

Education Highlight –Chandran Achutan, PhD, joined the UNMC Department of Environmental, Agricultural, and Occupational Health in 2008. Dr. Achutan began his career as an analytical chemist, attaining an MS in Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health and a doctorate in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Iowa. Before coming to UNMC, Dr. Achutan worked as an industrial hygienist with CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he performed workplace health hazard evaluations across the country. Rural Futures Institute Awarded RHEN a Teaching and Engagement Grant

Education Highlight – In 2015, the Rural Futures Institute awarded RHEN a Teaching and Engagement grant to develop Rural Interprofessional UNMC Student Rotations.
