Student Highlight – Harpriya Kaur is a PhD Epidemiology student.

What brought you to public health? My curious nature to understand the cause of disease occurrence, and a strong passion for helping those in need, brought me to this field. Public health is a perfect combination of both. My research interests include infectious diseases, cancer, global health, and occupational health. Currently, I am working on research focusing on HPV in vulnerable populations.

What do you like most about COPH? Its close relation with Medical Center which expands the horizon for collaborations. As an online epidemiology instructor, I have enjoyed my experience educating a wide range of students. I have recently published a study on “Workplace Psychosocial Factors associated with Hypertension in the US Workforce.” The COPH has given me the privilege to participate in various research areas.

Three things people might not know about me:

  1. My favorite book is “Night” by Elie Wiesel.
  2. I can’t handle too much spicy and hot food (contrary to my Indian origin).
  3. I love adventurous sports.
