2011 Carruth Wagner, MD, Scholarship in Public Health

Laura Hansen has a passion for serving in underserved areas and battling health disparities. Last summer, that passion led her to travel to Thiotte, Haiti, where she volunteered in a make-shift medical clinic.  Upon her return, she began the Master of Public Health Program at UNMC, with a community health education concentration. She is currently a graduate research assistant in the Department of Epidemiology, helping with a study of sexually transmitted infections in North Omaha. Laura is planning to graduate in May 2012 and hopes to attend medical school that fall.
