Ginny Czechut; Kenny McMorris, MPA, FACHE, CHCEF; Lexy Ginger, Cathy Wyatt, B.J.; Eric Sherman, MD; Carly Constanzo, CSS; Edgar Sanchez, Rashmi Ojha, MD, and Kristen Echter attended the Department of Psychiatry's New Year's Awards luncheon on January 28, 2026 at Wittson Hall. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Department of Psychiatry honored two organizations and three community members for their hard work as partners in the department\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Drew Health Center and Lutheran Family Services, as well as Rashmi Ojha, MD; Edgar Sanchez, and Cathy Wyatt, B.J., received the Outstanding Partnership Award during its annual department and education awards luncheon on January 28 at Wigton Heritage Center in Wittson Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Drew Health Center provides quality, comprehensive healthcare in a manner that acknowledges the dignity of the individual, the strength of the family, and the supportive network of the community, offering affordable, accessible care to all people. The award was presented to CDHC Chief Medical Officer Eric Sherman, MD; Anna Smolsky, MA; Kia Gamble, LPN; and the rest of the team for being one of the psychiatry department\u2019s longest-running partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lutheran Family Services is a local non-profit that works with patients dealing with behavioral health issues, including depression, trauma, anger, and addictive behaviors. LFS has always been willing to take referrals from the UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine Psychiatry Clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ojha works at Good Neighbor Community Health Center in Fremont, Nebraska. In her role, she trains residents. She received the award because \u201cher skills as an educator and clinician make her an ideal faculty to be a part of psychiatry training.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanchez specializes in medical, bioscience, engineering, and religious translation and interpreting for local-based TRANSLAT. He spends a lot of time in the Psychiatry Clinic and Psychiatric Emergency Services. He received the award for his \u201cinvaluable help to patients, often during their most difficult time.\u201d Sanchez accepted the award on behalf of his entire TRANSLAT team and said he\u2019s amazed and mesmerized by the work of the Psychiatry Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wyatt is the host of Consider This on UNO Television. In 2025, she interviewed department psychiatrist Kimberly Clawson, MD, and Leah Jesse, MD, on important topics regarding psychiatry education and care. In previous years, she has discussed juvenile justice, opioid use, addiction treatment, and other critical behavioral health issues with \u201ccorrect and evidence-based\u201d coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her acceptance, Wyatt said, \u201cI want to thank all the doctors here who share their expertise with our audience. I know our viewers appreciate it very much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
