Taylor, who joined UNMC in 2023, began his new role on January 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Taylor is an assistant professor at UNMC. He also took over as Patient Safety and Quality Lead for the department in 2023 and is a leader of the Psychiatry Consultation Clinic (PCC), which provides C\/L services in an outpatient setting.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/psychiatry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2026\/02\/WEB-Taylor.David_.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/psychiatry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2026\/02\/WEB-Taylor.David_.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/psychiatry\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2026\/02\/WEB-Taylor.David_-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted that Dr. Taylor has agreed to take on the Associate Medical Director role for the inpatient psychiatry consultation-liaison services,\u201d said David Cates, PhD, Vice-Chair for Clinical Services in the Department of Psychiatry. \u201cThrough his service as Patient Safety and Quality Lead as well as his leadership of the ambulatory Psychiatry Consultation Clinic (PCC), Dr. Taylor has demonstrated a talent for developing systems and structures to manage complex clinical and administrative problems.&nbsp; We are fortunate that he will be bringing these strengths to the leadership of the Psychiatry CL service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Taylor will work alongside the current Medical Director of the UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine Inpatient Consultation-Liaison (C\/L) services, Ashish Sharma, MD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to have Dr. David Taylor serve as the associate medical director for the inpatient Consultation-Liaison services,\u201d said Dr. Sharma. \u201cHis success as the patient safety and quality lead demonstrates how much of an asset he will be in strengthening our partnership with multidisciplinary teams and other specialists to provide integrated, comprehensive care for our hospitalized patients. We look forward to seeing where his ideas and expertise will take us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Taylor will handle many tasks, including scheduling, training, and inpatient care. Before arriving at UNMC, Dr. Taylor completed a C\/L fellowship at the University of North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve always really been interested in consultation\/liaison with psychiatry,\u201d Dr. Taylor said. \u201cI think part of what I really like about it is it&#8217;s an inherently interdisciplinary service that we work with all kinds of different physicians and providers. Also, I&#8217;m constantly learning about new cancers, chemotherapy drugs, or infections.
