Erin Kindred, MD, will become the Assistant PES Medical Director on July 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claudia Moore, MD, is the current Assistant PES Medical Director and will remain in the role through June. She will be stepping down to focus her time on graduate medical education projects for the Department of Psychiatry and the department\u2019s Addiction Treatment Clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ashish Sharma, MD, PES Medical Director, said Dr. Moore has been fantastic in her role, and her presence will be missed in the PES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Moore has been a huge asset to our team since joining the Department of Psychiatry in 2021, helping to strengthen the relationship between PES and ED, developing and implementing the Fast Pass transfer process, and streamlining policies for PES to name a few,\u201d Dr. Sharma said. \u201cWe are excited for her as I know she will do great things in her new endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sharma added that he\u2019s thrilled to see Dr. Kindred accept the leadership role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Kindred has been a key team player in PES for the last several years, always stepping up to help out or take shifts as needed,\u201d Dr. Sharma said. \u201cShe began as a moonlighting resident and has been working as an attending in PES since her residency completion in 2022. We cannot wait to see how Dr. Kindred helps to promote unity and growth within PES.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Dr. Kindred became the first member of the Department of Psychiatry faculty to pass the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties- Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry board exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kindred completed a Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at UNMC. The fellowship went in-depth on neurological degenerative disorders – such as dementia \u2013 movement disorders, and many more neurological conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She believes her training will help diagnose patients in adult and geriatric medicine and also help the PES staff get patients to the right place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOften times, it\u2019s unclear whether the primary issue is a psychiatric one or a neurological one,\u201d Dr. Kindred said. \u201cWith my extra training, I will be able to test and evaluate conditions to set the patient on the correct path. In the residency, I was able to add to my knowledge, and now I can provide more nuanced and efficient care than I would have been able to provide without the education and training. The goal is to treat patients efficiently, even when cases are more nuanced.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kindred will also share her knowledge with the residents training in the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m able to provide a more specialized education to our students and our residents that isn\u2019t necessarily focused on what they hear most of the time in residency,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
