Writing can be a way to work through\u00a0complicated feelings\u00a0brought on by\u00a0traumatic events and diagnoses.\u202fShe\u202fwill read\u00a0her poems\u00a0and\u00a0examine\u00a0how an observation or experience makes it to the page\u00a0in the form of verse. Participants will have an opportunity to\u202freflect on and\u202fwrite\u202fsome\u202fpoetry.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.cloud.microsoft\/r\/J2X0vNXiFq\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Enter the drawing, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noopener\">Enter the drawing<\/a>\u202fto\u202freceive a\u202fsigned\u202fcopy of <em>The\u202fMost Potent Weapon<\/em>. Criss Endowed Chair in the Health Sciences. In addition, Amy served as Director of the Center for Health Policy and Ethics at Creighton from 2005-2018 and now holds the rank of Professor Emerita. She was selected in 2001 to be part of the Pew National Fellowship Program for Carnegie Scholars, studying the impact of patient simulations on health professional learning. She has also been a pioneer in the use of poetry, creative\u202fprose\u202fand narrative writing as approaches to teaching healthcare ethics.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amy is the 2019 recipient of the Annals of Internal Medicine poetry prize for \u201cFamilies Like This\u201d for the best poem published in the journal. She won\u202fthird&nbsp;place\u202ffor the 2019 Kalanithi Writing Awards from Stanford University for her poem \u201cDark Rides.\u201d Her chapbook,&nbsp;<em>The Geography of Kitchens<\/em>, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2021.
