DigitalCommons@UNMC<\/a>, a service of McGoogan Library, offers a snapshot of the scholarship happening in and around University of Nebraska Medical Center. That is, if a snapshot could also capture panoramic scenes and contain great depth of field.

This open-access repository exists as a tool for learning and publication and is open to submissions ranging from journal articles to book chapters, theses and dissertations to conference materials, streaming audio and video and more.

To familiarize yourself with the repository, here are just five features you\u2019ll find in the Digital Commons:

Discipline Wheel:<\/strong> Resembling the seating chart for some fantastical amphitheater, this visual tool announces itself with great swaths of purple joined by considerable teal as well as blues and greens, reds, whites and more. Look closer and the colors represents theses and dissertations within many disciplines and specialties, from public health and medical specialties to educational technology and health law.

Top 10 Downloads:<\/strong> Here you\u2019ll find the most popular papers over the life of the repository which, at time of this writing, include titles such as \u201cNurse Initiated Standing Orders: A Process Improvement at an Emergency Department in Interior Alaska\u201d by Justin D. Melberg; \u201cThe Impact of Social Media Use on Postpartum Depression\u201d from Jaila Randle; and Grant Orr\u2019s \u201cHow to Evacuate When Disaster Strikes: A Literature Review of Hospital Evacuations.”

Most Recent Additions: <\/strong>Sift and read the Digital Commons\u2019 20 most recently-added papers which, at the time of this writing, includes work on topics ranging from infection control practices among EMS providers to stress experienced by Medical Laboratory Science students.

Journals and Magazines:<\/strong> Brush up on your reading and seeing with publications such as Graduate Medical Education Research Journal, Innovations in Health Sciences Education Journal, Translational Science in Occupation and The Art of Medicine. The latter offers moments of respite and kinship, showcasing poetry, prose and visual art\u2014often centered around the emotions and experiences of practicing medicine\u2014from creative healthcare workers, faculty and students.
