She learned the ways of the white medicine-men, as the first Native American to receive a western medical degree, while still maintaining the traditions of her people, Nebraska&#8217;s Omaha Tribe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join Carrie Meyer, head of archives and special collections at the McGoogan Library, on <strong>Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from noon to 1 p.m.<\/strong> to learn about Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte&#8217;s life, her causes and lasting legacy.
