Starting late afternoon, December 31, the online journal and ebook search interfaces will be retired. Taking their place is the new library catalog, which will allow you to search for print and online materials all at once. A separate journal search will be available on the top menu bar on the library’s website.
Beginning December 11 at 4 p.m. through December 22 at approximately 8 a.m., the library’s catalog will be unavailable as we prepare for the library’s new catalog. Searches for print books and anatomical models will be unavailable during this time. Electronic journals and ebook search will still be available through their respective search boxes.
To obtain a book, request through interlibrary loan. To request anatomical models, contact firstname.lastname@example.org with the model that you need.
On Oct. 29, UNMC IT asked the library to shut down the server that hosts the library’s catalog of books and electronic resources. Beginning Nov. 9, the library will provide beta access to a new catalog that will officially debut on Dec. 21.
This access will provide discovery of print and electronic collections, as well as anatomical models. Users will be able to request items for checkout after contacting email@example.com for an account. With the catalog in beta, users may encounter issues when searching the interface. This provides an opportunity to identify and correct problems before the official December 21 launch. Users are encouraged to report issues through this online form.
Holdings represented in the catalog are current as of July. Books that are not available can be requested via interlibrary loan. The holdings of the other NU libraries will also be visible, but only for informational purposes at this time.
By bringing up this new system in beta, the library will continue to provide the UNMC community with access check out materials and view our print holdings during this interim period.
On October 29, IT asked us to shut down the server that hosts the library’s catalog of books and electronic resources. From October 30 until further notice, you will not be able to check out any books or anatomical models. You will not be able to look in the library catalog to see if we own a print book, journal, or anatomical models. We will reach out to anyone who already has materials checked out to confirm when materials are due. We apologize for the short notice and inconvenience. Please contact Emily McElroy, Dean of McGoogan Health Sciences Library, with any questions or concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org.
