UpToDate access issues

We’ve been getting several calls and emails about the lack of wireless access to UpToDate. UNMC wireless is not secure and because the UpToDate campus license is restricted to on-campus only, wireless access cannot be provided. Previous wireless access to this resource cannot be confirmed, but as our license currently stands, UpToDate can only be accessed from a wired UNMC or Nebraska Medical Center computer or from a laptop plugged into a dataport. Dataports are available in some classrooms and in the library. Cords are not provided. If you have any questions, please contact the Reference Desk at 559-6221 or askus@unmc.edu.

Fall RefWorks classes announced

Create a searchable database from your MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO search results. Use that database to insert citations and create bibliographies in your papers in just minutes. Reformat your paper for submission to a new journal in seconds. Learn how to do all this and more by attending our hands-on, RefWorks Basic Training Class. Those who attend will create their own RefWorks accounts (for free) through the McGoogan Library’s RefWorks site license. Identical, RefWorks Basic Training Classes will be offered on:

  • Friday, Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m.;
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.;
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.; and
  • Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.

The class is open to all UNMC faculty, staff and students. Pre-registration is required. Please e-mail Cindy Schmidt at cmschmidt@unmc.edu to pre-register for a class or if you would like to arrange one-on-one instruction or additional classroom training sessions.

Labor Day weekend closures

The library will be closed on Sunday and Monday, September 6-7, in observance of Labor Day weekend. Regular hours resume on Tuesday morning at 7:30.

Library restrooms closed for repair

The restrooms in the library (Wittson Hall floors 6 – 8 ) will be in various states of repair for the next few weeks. Currently, sinks are not in use. Hand sanitizer has been placed in the open restrooms. If there is none, please notify the Circulation Desk. The sink in the 6th floor Linder Lounge is available for use. If a bathroom is not available, please use restrooms on any of the other floors in Wittson Hall. The library apologizes for this inconvenience.
