Hassan Tetteh, M.D., delivered a presentation titled “Embracing Diversity for Improved Health Outcomes” on September 27, 2017 at noon in Sorrell Center, Room 2014. Dr. Tetteh’s vibrant and interactive presentation highlighted the important aspect of strategic communication, including uninterrupted listening during communication between patients and providers. When engaged in active listening, responsiveness between patient and provider increases, leading to better health outcomes. Similarly, satisfaction rates for health centers can increase among patient, faculty, staff, and student populations when utilizing active listening tools and other techniques such as those demonstrated during Dr. Tetteh’s presentation. Dr. Tetteh also met with members of the UNMC GRADS student group. He shared his own personal experiences on how to successfully handle life’s challenges.
