Particularly, clinical trials testing antibiotics have historically been racially and ethnically imbalanced, without adequate representation of minoritized participants. Additionally, pharmacy deserts and structural differences in how individuals obtain and use antimicrobial medications have broad implications for the health of these communities. Dr. Marcelin also covers steps the field can take to address these inequities and ensure all individuals are protected from antimicrobial resistance.
